Ammonia Nitrogen Reduction

line sharePrint Content

The MOENV, through all kinds of pollution management and remediation measures, gradually improves the water quality of 50 major rivers around the country, and have attained significant results. However, Nankan River, New Huwei Creek, Erren River, Laojie Creek, Beigang River, Donggang River and Jishuei River are the 7 rivers with lower ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N) level achievement rate. In order to meet the river water quality standard and ensure that no section of any river in Taiwan is heavily polluted, the EPA will launch Sustainable Water Quality Promotion Plan: a pilot project to reduce NH3-N, scheduled to take place from 2020 to 2023. The project, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #6 (SDG6), is dedicated to clean water resources and sustainable water quality. It will continue to reduce NH3-N or other pollutants emitted in the rivers so to address the public's earnest desire for the enhancement of river water quality.
