The Ministry of Environment (MOENV) has announced a draft amendment to Appendix 1 of Article 12 of the Enforcement Rules of the Environmental Impact Assessment Act. This amendment is proposed in response to revisions to the Standards for Determining the Scope and Content of Environmental Impact Assessments for Development Activities, which were formulated pursuant to the authorization under Article 5 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Act.

The draft amendment adds a new category of development activities for carbon dioxide capture and subsequent storage (CCS) site development, and designates the Ministry of Environment as the competent authority responsible for environmental impact assessments for such projects.
