As households joyfully welcome the Lunar New Year, sanitation workers must handle more waste than usual, along with bulky items such as furniture, to accommodate year-end cleanups nationwide. Before the holiday ends, they must return to work early to clear the massive amounts of waste accumulated during the festival. The Ministry of Environment (MOENV) expressed its deepest respect and gratitude to the more than 36,000 hard-working sanitation workers nationwide, thanking them for remaining on the front lines during a time of family reunions and quietly protecting everyone's living environment.

The Lunar New Year has always been one of the busiest periods for Taiwan's sanitation workers. They often have to work late into the night, sometimes even working overtime on New Year's Eve until the cleanup is finished before they can go home to reunite with their families, and in some cases they miss New Year's Eve dinner. Before the holiday ends, they return to work early to take on the important task of clearing the massive amounts of waste accumulated over the festival so the public can enjoy a clean environment on the first day back to work.

To protect sanitation workers during their duties, the public is asked, when disposing of high-pressure cylinders such as gas canisters used for hot pot or hairspray cans during Lunar New Year cleanups, to make sure they are completely empty before disposal. After sorting the trash, pack the cylinders separately, mark them with a "contains high-pressure cylinders" warning, and hand them over for recycling. Follow the four steps of "empty, pack, warn, recycle" to prevent danger during waste compaction. If the cylinders are not completely empty, find a well-ventilated to discharge them. Do not puncture them yourself, as this is dangerous. Be sure to follow the four steps of "confirm empty, pack separately, add warning, hand over for recycling" to protect front-line waste collection workers and the public.

The MOENV and the Environmental Management Administration expressed gratitude for the workers' contributions during the Lunar New Year and urged the public to show consideration for sanitation workers' hard work by thanking them, helping foster a warm, clean, and heartfelt Lunar New Year in Taiwan.
