Guidelines for Post-disaster Garbage Cleanup for the General Public

1. Please separate the perishable and smelly garbage from other types of waste, so that the local environmental protection unit can plan and prioritize the removal of perishable waste.
2. For non-perishable items such as household appliances or large furniture, if they need to be discharged, please place them in nearby open spaces or roadsides, or in temporary storage locations specified by environmental protection agencies, so that they won’t hinder disaster relief efforts and traffic flow.
3. Accelerate the removal of garbage in residential areas and market areas, and select appropriate locations to set up centralized transfer stations. First, use small trucks and cars to collect them and then transfer them with excavators or large vehicles.
4. In order to enhance the removal efficiency, environmental protection authorities are requested to find a suitable place nearby as a transfer station. In the method of short-distance concentration during the day and long-distance clearing at night, the waste and silt discharged from the people's households on the street are mechanically loaded onto small trucks, removed from the street, and piled up and disinfected at the transfer station during the day. They will be loaded onto large trucks at night and be transported to landfill or incineration plant. This approach avoids daytime traffic peaks, significantly improves the removal rate, and helps expedite the cleaning of the streets.
