Registration and payment of water pollution control fees for the first six months of 2021 was due at the end of July. The EPA has extended the deadline to the end of October to provide ample time for those obligated to pay the fees.

The EPA pointed out that water pollution control fees are collected from approximately 11,300 enterprises, which are those listed for control under the Water Pollution Control Act  and wastewater systems in industrial parks or specifically for certain areas or premises. The fees are paid semiannually, meaning the first registration and payment in 2021 (from January to June) has to be made by the end of July. Considering that enterprises may not be able to make payment on time in the midst of the pandemic, the registration and payment deadline has been moved to 31 October. Enterprises are also reminded to complete the procedure to protect their rights.

It is mandated by law to collect water pollution control fees, which are used solely for water pollution control tasks. Enterprises, while complying with epidemic prevention measures, are urged to note the deadline, register and pay the fees before it at https:// https://wpcf.epa.gov.tw/.
