Green Life is one of the key strategies for Taiwan's transformation to Net-Zero Emissions by 2050. The Net-Zero Emissions transformation should begin with the promotion of Green Life, which includes changes in people’s behavior and consumption patterns in food, clothing, housing, transportation, education, entertainment, and shopping. This will lead to changes in the industrial supply chain and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Since 2010, the EPA has been actively promoting the Green Life campaign to introduce the public to the concept of green life and develop their green life behaviors and habits. The EPA also uses the National Green Life Movement Information Platform to encourage the public to respond to and implement green living. "Love the Earth" is not only a style of living but also the trending attitude to life. Green life is an eco-friendly way of life. From even the smallest details in life, such as in food, clothing, housing, transportation, education, entertainment, and shopping, we are working together with institutions, schools, enterprises, private organizations, communities, and all people across the country to change small living habits and create an overall green life in the future.

1.Green Travel

The objective of Green Travel is to encourage people to travel in an eco-friendly way and make travel itineraries based on the principle of being eco-friendly and low-carbon, thereby reducing the resource consumption caused by travel, transportation, and accommodation and to experience local attractions in a more in-depth manner. In addition to taking public transportation and bringing one's own toiletries, people can choose Green Restaurants, Environmental Education Facilities, Green Mark Hotels, or Eco-friendly Hotels as priority options for travel destinations, dining, and accommodations when planning their trips. To enhance people's knowledge of green travel and make it easier to participate, we collaborate with travel-related businesses to provide various food and travel services that are close to nature or have environmental protection features. People can also choose green travel itineraries compiled by the Green Mark Travel Service, so people can not only relax their bodies and minds but also care for the environment, enjoy the natural environments, and embody the idea of green life.

2.Green Dining

Green Dining is a simple change in eating habits. The objective is to promote eating food in moderation, prioritize local, seasonal, and natural ingredients, and use one's own eco-friendly utensils, thus achieving eating habits that conserve food and reduces waste, which is beneficial to both human health and the environment.

The EPA has promoted numerous policies related to Green Dining. In addition to promoting environmental education on food conservation, the EPA has also invited the catering industry to participate in the Eco-friendly Restaurant system. The measures include not providing disposable tableware, prioritizing the use of domestic and local ingredients, and following the concept of food conservation to provide eco-friendly, low-carbon food and dining environments. When people eat out, they can choose restaurants such as Eco-friendly Restaurants, Green Mark Restaurants, or AMOT Traceability Restaurants to ensure that they receive tasty and healthy meals. This way, people can also contribute to environmental protection and loving the Earth through food.

3.Green Consumption

Green Consumption is an eco-friendly mode of consumption, in which consumers choose green products with low environmental impacts, choose natural and healthy options, and reduce the use of plastics and harmful substances to alleviate environmental pollution. The EPA has long promoted green consumption. Through verification systems such as Green Mark and carbon footprint labels, the EPA encourages manufacturers to implement measures, such as recyclable materials, lower pollution, saving resources, and reducing carbon emissions. These measures are executed throughout the entire production process, including the raw materials, product manufacturing, transportation, sales, and end-of-life recycling.

People can purchase eco-friendly green products and green services in their daily lives, receiving rewards through the Green Point system. People are also encouraged to support green consumption by taking care of their possessions, extending the lifespan of objects, bringing reusable shopping bags, and avoiding disposable products. In addition, by promoting the green procurement system in government agencies and private entities, relevant industries can participate in manufacturing eco-friendly products or providing environmental services. This forms a green consumption cycle between the manufacturing and purchasing sides of eco-friendly products. In doing so, the eco-friendly green consumption mode can be implemented, making green consumption part of our daily life.

4.Green Home

The objective of Green Home is to promote an attitude conducive to environmentally-friendly living spaces by adjusting one's lifestyle and changing small everyday habits, such as how space in the home is used, environmental cleanliness, and garbage disposal. This creates a green home atmosphere that is eco-friendly, low-carbon, and comfortable, thereby improving people's quality of life at home.

When practicing the concept of a green home, people can choose eco-friendly products, worship in an eco-friendly manner, save water and electricity, separate their waste, and recycle. As the EPA continues to promote low-carbon sustainable homeland and rain gardens, measures such as maintaining general environmental cleanliness, natural lighting, ventilation, smoke-free kitchens, air green walls, and indoor greening can also be used to create an eco-friendly, low-carbon, and comfortable living environment.

5.Green Office

The objective of Green Office is to encourage people in offices to save energy and resources (water, electricity, paper, and fuel), use less paper or print on both sides, hold meetings online, sort waste and reuse materials, create a green environment, prioritize green procurement of office supplies, organize staff trips to participate in environmental activities, and enhance staff environmental education. Operators or supervisors are encouraged to create an eco-friendly office and to motivate staff to implement the concept of Green Office, thereby practicing green living in daily life.

To enhance the public's knowledge, encourage people to participate in Green Office, and further understand how to respond and practice Green Office, members of the public are encouraged to check the "Response Indicators and Measures," "Green Office Response Status," and the participation and response status of enterprises, organizations, schools, and various groups nationwide. Numerous tips for green office and information on creating a green office environment for a better life can also be found therein.
