Wastewater Pollution Control

line sharePrint Content

The Water Pollution Control Act (WPC Act) applies to industrial wastewater, which includes process wastewater, discharged wastewater, non-contact cooling water, and runoff wastewater. The Act also applies to domestic sewage produced from the daily activities of employees.

The WPC Act includes many sub-laws, regulations, and directions. The Classification and Definition of Water Pollution Prevention and Control Law defines the regulated enterprises of the WPC Act: companies whose production processes meet the defined criteria for one of the 64 regulated industries, or whose discharge volume exceeds the regulatory threshold, fall under the scope of regulation of the WPC Act.
